General: Anderton and Heath Charnock are villages situated approximately 3 miles south east of Chorley, with a population of around 1,200 and 2,000 respectively. With a past history centred around the weaving industry, leisure and tourism now form the major economies of the village.

Location: Anderton and Heath Charnock are situated near to the Manchester – Leeds canal. The M61 runs close to the area providing excellent commuting links. The villages arealso served by the A673. The nearest train station is Chorley and this also provides the nearest connection for various bus services.

Education: Anderton & Heath Charnock limited schools available with St Joseph’s Catholic Primary composing of the only school in the villages. However, there are numerous schools located in nearby Chorley including Southlands High and Holy Cross Catholic.

Local facilities: Facilities are best located in Chorley with Tesco, Booths, Iceland and Morrisons all available. Anderton & Heath Charnock are both also located very close to Rivington services on the M61.

Leisure: Anderton is home to the Headless Cross – a local landmark and tourist attraction as well as various listed buildings in the area. Anderton Centre, which was built in 1999, is also located here offering water activities, training facilities and various land activities.
