General: Egerton is a peaceful village situated 3 miles north of Bolton on the West Pennine Moors. With glorious views and countryside, Egerton is a popular commuting village into Bolton, Blackburn and Manchester with a population of around 1,000 residents.

Location: The A666 Bolton - Blackburn road passes through Egerton allowing easy access to the nearby towns. The nearest railway station can be found a couple of miles away at Bromley Cross. The village is well served by bus routes including the No 538 Arriva service to Bolton and the No 1 Lancashire United service to Bolton, Darwen and Blackburn.

Healthcare: The nearest health centre is Egerton & Dunscar Health Centre, located on Darwen Road – 01204 463232.

There are pharmacies and dentists available in Bromley Cross.

Education: The village is home to Egerton CP School and Walmsley CEP School. In close proximity is also Canon Slade School at Bradshaw and Turton High School Media Arts College.

Local facilities: The village offers various limited facilities such as a grocery shop, pubs, restaurants, vets etc, however for a wider range of facilities it would be necessary to travel into Bromley Cross. The nearest supermarket is the Co-Operative which is located on Darwen Road.

Leisure: Egerton is home to Shooterslee Wood, an area of scientific interest due to its broad leaved woodland. The village is ideal for walking and hiking with numerous walks and footpaths available. The village is also home to Egerton FC and Egerton Cricket club.
